Tiny Ballet/Tap (Ages 3-5)

Introduces ballet and tap terminology along with the movement. Exploring rhythms, spatial awareness, coordination, and structure through movement.

Dress Code: Pink ballet attire, pink tights, pink ballet shoes (SD69 SO Danca) and black tap shoes (3800C Black Leather Mary Jane). Boys: White t-shirt, black pants or shorts, black ballet and tap shoes.

Tiny Tap/Jazz (Ages 3-5)

Introduces jazz and tap terminology along with the movement. Exploring rhythms, spatial awareness, coordination, and structure through movement.

Dress Code: Pink ballet leotard, black leggings, black jazz shoes and black tap shoes (3800C Black Leather Mary Jane). Boys: White t-shirt, black pants or shorts, black jazz and tap shoes.

Tiny Hip Hop and Tumble (Ages 3-5)

This combo class is for energetic little ones that are always showing off their dance moves and love to flip around. It combines the basics of hip hop and tumbling skills with age appropriate movement and music.

Dress Code: Girls: Hip hop attire with sneakers over leotard or unitard. Sneakers for hip hop and barefoot for tumbling. Hair is to pulled back from face and neck. Boys: Athletic shorts, t-shirt, and sneakers.

**Note this class can be added onto the Tiny Ballet/Tap or Tap/Jazz

Kindergarten

Ballet / Tap I (Ages 5-7)

Designed for dancers to explore the basics of tap and ballet in one class. Incorporating terminology along with movement and a more structured class atmosphere. Exploring ballet positions and center work and tap basics and rhythms all to age appropriate music.

Dress Code: Light Blue ballet attire pink tights, pink ballet shoes (SD69 SO Danca) and black tap shoes (3800C Black Leather Mary Jane). Boys: White t-shirt, black pants or shorts, black ballet shoes. Boys: White t-shirt, black pants or shorts, black ballet and tap shoes.

Hip Hop and Tumble (Ages 5-7)

An upbeat and energetic class, using current age-appropriate music. Designed to develop strength, body placement, coordination, musicality, and performance style. Focusing on proper terminology and technique. 

Dress Code: Form fitting t-shirt or tank top; black capri style pants/leggings; and clean sneakers. No jeans or shorts.

1st - 5th Grade

Primary 1 Ballet (Ages 6-8) or Ballet II (Ages 8-10)

The foundation of all dance forms. Incorporates grace and precision of movement, while working on the fundamentals of dance. Focuses on overall body alignment and awareness, while emphasizing the proper usage of a dancer’s body. 

Dress Code: Black or dark jewel tone leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes. Students should have their hair pulled back in a bun. Boys: White t-shirt, black pants or shorts, black ballet and tap shoes.

Hip Hop and Tumble (Ages 8-10)

Jazz/Tap (Ages 8-10)

This class will enable the student to further develop jazz and tap skills. Emphasis is on placement, balance, control, discipline, and clean lines and proper dance technique. Tap promotes coordination and an acute sense of rhythmic patterns.

Dress Code:  Black or dark jewel tone leotard; skin colored tights; black jazz shoes; black tap shoes; dance shorts or leggings (optional).

Hip Hop (Ages 9-11)

An upbeat and energetic class, using current age-appropriate music. Designed to develop strength, body placement, coordination, musicality and performance style.

Dress Code: Form fitting t-shirt or tank top, sweatpants, and clean sneakers. No jeans or shorts.

Secondary 1/2 Lyrical

Lyrical dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.  

Dress Code:  Black or dark jewel tone leotard; skin colored tights; barefeet or Twyla lyrical shoes ; dance shorts or leggings (optional). 

6th - 12th Grade

Teen 1 Lyrical

Lyrical dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.

New students need to be evaluated for placement. Please contact the office to inquire about any placement questions. All students taking Pointe must be in two Ballet classes, not inclusive of the Pointe.

Our goal is to give all dancers with the passion to perform that opportunity! The EDC Performing Company is for dancers and parents who are excited and committed to advancing beyond recreational classes. We focus on building strong dancer and confident students on and off the stage. The performing company plays an important role in EDC's  mission of community, inclusion and artistry by seeking opportunities to share our passion for dance and the universal language it provides for all. Dancers are divided into levels based on age and ability as we see most beneficial to that individual dancer and group. We have opportunities for dancers wanting a more advanced curriculum and performance through advanced dancers striving to compete and achieve at a highly competitive level. 

Mini Connection

This is an entry level into the Performing Company for younger students. Class will incorporate intermediate to advanced technique and instruction in ballet, tap, and jazz.

Dress Code: Black or dark jewel tone leotard, caramel tights, pink ballet, caramel jazz shoes and black lace up tap shoes. Students should have their hair pulled back in a bun. 

Company Levels: Primary 1, Primary 2, Secondary 1, Secondary 2, Teen 1, Teen 2, Senior

Placement Based on Ability and Age

Technique Classes/Hours Required: Ballet, Tap, Jazz
